I’ll never forget the day Billy Graham died.
It was on my 33rd birthday. February 21st, 2018.
He was 99 years old. In those 99 years, the number of people he shared the Lord’s realness, goodness, and love with is more than can be calculated.
I was online a little more than usual that day, responding to kind birthday comments, when I saw this quote of his shared over and over:
“I don’t need a successor. Only willing hands to accept the torch for a new generation.” -Billy Graham
And I raised my hand to the Lord and said:
“I will. I am willing to pass on to the next generation the light I’ve experienced because of You.”
Today I am inviting you with all my heart to jump into this good work of God with me:
God is calling His people to remember Him.
And to share His light with the next generation.
God has taught me how to bring His love, strength, and light to others through sharing a story.
Now it's my joy to guide you one simple step at a time to sharing your His-story in a powerful, effective way.
Remembering who God is and what He has done for you will absolutely renew your hope. It will strengthen your faith.
But just as critical?
You have personal experiences of Jesus that the next generation needs.
On October 22nd, 2018 Eugene Peterson went home to Jesus.
Again my social media newsfeed filled with comments from people about how Peterson had shared God’s love with them in ways that grew them up in their faith and deeply impacted their relationship with Jesus.
I am now 34 years young, and aware every day that more of the older generation will likely finish their earthly race before Jesus calls me home.
The days may be long - but the years are short.
Spiritual Mothers and Fathers, Brothers and Sisters in the faith are going home to Jesus and my generation is slowing growing up into being spiritual mentors.
The fact is:
If you know Jesus is real, good, and that He loves you personally - you are one of the wealthiest people on the planet.
My 14-year-old daughter shares her experiences of Jesus with me and each one is a precious treasure that deeps my understanding of God.
So regardless of your age - we need your experiences.
I know you want to be a good steward of what God has entrusted to you. I do, too!
We need the wisdom God has shared with you. We need you to give us everything you’ve got.
“Always be prepared to give the reason for the hope you have.” - 1 Peter 3:15
You have reasons for the hope you have in Jesus.
Your stories carry hope because they carry Jesus.
This is for you.
But this is also for your brothers and sisters.
This is for your kids, nieces, and nephews.
For your grandkids.
For the kids you teach and coach and mentor.
It’s time to stop merely agreeing and head-nodding to this truth.
People are absolutely desperate for real Hope.
Remember: You are so, so loved.
